Shopify CSV files are powerful, but a large file can be difficult to prepare and even harder to verify. A clearer workflow keeps the spreadsheet while adding structure around export, import and approval.
Export only what you need
Select the relevant catalog area and fields instead of carrying unnecessary columns through the whole process. A smaller, focused workbook is easier to understand and less likely to collect accidental edits.
Use Excel for preparation, not blind execution
Spreadsheets are excellent for filling, copying and standardizing values. They are less useful as a final approval screen. Import the file into a workflow that validates its structure and prepares a readable difference list.
Preview before Shopify receives anything
Review which products and fields will change, remove uncertain rows and apply only the approved records. Export, import and preview should not themselves modify the live store.
